There are several organizations whose programs and services can be useful to our guests. They include:
PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays)
Support, education and advocacy for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons and their family and friends.
Lyon-Martin Women's Health Services
Part of the Community Health Services, a division of the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Includes hospitals and hospices.
Stop AIDS Project
Provides education and support regarding AIDS/HIV in the area of education.
Project Inform
Provides vital current information on the diagnosis and treatment of HIV disease to HIV-infected individuals, their caregivers, and their healthcare and service providers.
Visiting Nurse Association
Information regarding health and services in the home.
Project Open Hand
Provides food and groceries to persons with AIDS in San Francisco and Alameda counties.
Shanti Project
Provides a variety of supportive services to persons with AIDS including one-on-one matching of clients and volunteers.
AIDS Emergency Fund/Breast Cancer Emergency Fund
Provides emergency financial aid to persons with AIDS, or to persons with breast cancer.
AIDS Health Project
Provides a variety of supportive services in the areas of mental health, social programs, emotional support groups, and education for persons with AIDS and HIV.
Positive Resource Center
Provides assistance and advice to persons with AIDS regarding applications for public benefits, including SSI, SSD, welfare and insurance-related issues.
Family Caregiver Alliance
Information, education, news, advice and support groups for families providing care to persons with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, stroke, or brain injury.
Center for Caregiver Training
Helps people cope with serious illness at home, by teaching families and friends the basic, practical skills and strategies they need to care for their loved ones.
Coming Home Hospice
Provides care and support for clients and their families facing terminal illness.
Zen Hospice
Provides a residence for adults not expected to live more than six months. Other support services are available as well.
Maitri
Provides hospice care, long-term skilled nursing care, and short-term intensive transitional support to people severely debilitated by AIDS.
